Hadi Khorsandi's skillful depictions of society and satirical criticism of the establishment have given him a reputation as one of Iran's most talented modern poets.
Although comedic, he writes with a quality reminiscent of classical
works of satire in Persian literature.
Khorsandi became popular during the 1979 revolution for democracy.
Through his skillful use of satire he bravely criticized both the
Shah and then the Islamic
Republic and its leaders.
In the early years of post revolutionary Iran, Khorsandi had to flee the country.
Not satisfied, the leaders of the Islamic Republic arranged for his assassination in London.
where, fortunately, the plot was disclosed by
the hit man, who happened to be a fan of his. A scenario worthy of Khorsandi.
Now living in London , England , Khorsandi a journalist
always, still runs his famous satirical publication Journal
Asghar Agha, as well as a website.
Night Code or Picture of
Revolution is one of his most famous poems. In this one poem he
criticizes both the Shah and the Islamic regime, showing the similarity
of their actions and the end result, which is suffered by the people.
One example is the curfews instituted by the two regimes, which are only different in
their night codes. In this wonderful poem
he reveals different social obstacles and problems of the eras, each referred
to by a night code. And through this he artistically ridicules the establishment and shows both periods were
the same and the revolution did not change anything as far as life is
concerned. website: http://www.hadisara.com/
