National
Geographic and Professional Values

There
are a number of world organizations that although have originated in a
certain country, they have responsibilities to entire the international
community. Their professional services are expected to be rendered without
any economic or political motives. They should also be incorrigible and
immune to bribery and financial favors.
National Geographic is one professional organization which, though
national in nature, has grown over the decades to be respected
internationally. Its output in form of maps and geographic data and
information have been considered academic references, its passion for
precision in details and correctness and its integrity in processing and
presentation of information have always been presumed. But, no longer. The
mis-information put out this year in the National Geographic Society maps
of the Persian Gulf shows that people's blind trust in the information
National Geographic presents may have been misguided.
Evidently, the tradition of correctness and professional
integrity built painstakingly over the decades by the founders of the
National Geographic Society has succumbed to political pressure and money
(call it substantial research funds). Certain Arab states with a lot of
easy money obtained from natural reserves belonging to all humanity, do
better to spend the money for improvement of their own lot, instead of
gratification of tribal chauvinism. The money spent on their people's
education and economic progress (not just family's economic progress) will
go much further in making a lasting mark on the world map than just buying
change of historical names. Helping to create a democratic state with
people gaining the right to decide their own fate and use of their
resources is a more lasting mark in history than the continuance of an
autocratic family rule over a bunch of poor and uneducated subjects. While
the names they try to change have been around for thousand of years and
are a part of world history and culture, they themselves haven't been
around for more than a fraction of a century. Pirates' coast, was it?
Finally, the evident tacit approval of the American administration
for the academic dishonesty displayed by National Geographic, goes further
to hurt the feelings of the Iranian people toward the
U.S.
They see this as part of a
deliberate program of de-persianization in the region, a legacy of the
days of the
British Empire
. While the British still remain
a staunch advocate of de-persianization in favor of Arabs and Turks of
recent identity, it is a mistake for the Americans to pursue this route,
which will further alienate Iranians toward the
U.S.
and reinforce the half-century
old distrust of
U.S.
policies.
Iran
will remain to be the most
important and strategic country in
West Asia
. Judging by the past history and
what our people have accomplished inside and outside the country, given a
little freedom, it is inevitable that Iran will build a democratic state
in the near future and become one of the most powerful nations in the
world, economically and technologically.
Iran
will be a model state for all
countries west of
India
, as it has always been. For
America
to continue hurting the feelings
of the people of
Iran
, destroying the bases of our
national interests in the region, and presenting itself as an enemy or a
friend of the enemies, will influence very strongly the nature and the
structure of future partnerships and alliances.

و ارائه
اطلاعات
همیشه پیش
فرض بوده است.
ولی، دیگر نه.

تحریف شده ای

فارس امسال
توسط انجمن

جئوگرافیک
منتشر شد،
نشان می دهد
که اعتماد
کورکورانه
مردم به
اطلاعاتی که
نشنال
جئوگرافیک
عرضه می کند،
شاید گمراه
کننده باشد.
ظاهرا"،
سنت درستی و
شرافت حرفه
ای که با زحمت
زیاد توسط
بنیانگذاران
انجمن نشنال
جئوگرافیک
در طی چند دهه
پی ریزی شده
بوده، تسلیم
فشار سیاسی و
پول (بخوانید
بودجه
پژوهشی) شده
است. برخی
دولتهای عرب
با انباشتی
از پولهای
آسان بدست
آمده از
منابع طبیعی
که متعلق به
کل بشریت است،
بهتر است در
راه بهبود
وضع مردم خود
هزینه کنند
تا ارضای
شهوتهای
قبیله ای.
مصرف این
پولها در راه
سواد آموزی و
پیشرفت
اقتصادی
مردم خود (نه
فقط پیشرفت
اقتصادی
خانواده خود)
اثر بسیار
بادوام تری
روی نقشه
جهان خواهد
گذاشت تا
خرید تغییر
در نامهای
تاریخی. کمک
به ایجاد یک
دولت
دموکراتیک
با مردمی که
حق تصمیم
گیری درباره
سرنوشت خود و
کاربری
منابع طبیعی
خود داشته
باشند، اثر
بادوام تری
در تاریخ می
گذارد تا
ادامه حکومت
یک خانواده
بر مشتی
رعایای فقیر
و بی سواد. در
حالیکه
نامهایی که
آنان تلاش در
تغییر آنها
دارند
هزاران سال
وجود داشته
اند و جزوی از
تاریخ و
فرهنگ جهان
بشمار می
روند،
خودشان حتا
بسیار کمتر
از یک سده است
که بوجود
آمده اند.

ملت ایران را
نسبت به

جریحه دار
کرده است. ملت
ایران این
پدیده را
بخشی از یک
برنامه
سازمان
یافته برای
ایرانی
زدایی در
منطقه،
میراث
امپراتوری
بریتانیا،
بشمار می
آورند. در
حالیکه
انگلستان
هنوز مشوق و
پشتیبان
ایرانی
زدایی به سود
عرب ها و ترک
هایی که در
تنها در دهه
های اخیر به
کمک
انگلستان
دارای هویت
ملی شده اند
است، پیروی
از این راه
برای ایالات
متحده یک
اشتباه است،
زیرا
ایرانیان را
بیشتر از پیش
نسبت به
امریکاییان
بیگانه
خواهد کرد و
عدم اعتمادی
را که در طی
پنجاه سال
گذشته بوجود
آمده دامن
خواهد زد.
ایران
همیشه یک
کشور بسیار
مهم و
استراتژیک
در غرب آسیا
خواهد ماند.
با توجه به
تاریخ گذشته
این مردم ما،
و آنطور که تا
کنون در داخل
و خارج کشور،
فقط پس از کسب
کمی آزادی،
عمل کرده اند
و میکنند،
انکار نمی
توان کرد که
ایرانیان در
آینده نزدیک
ناگزیر یک
حکومت
دموکراتیک
بوجود خواهد
آورد و ایران
به یکی از
نیرومند
ترین
کشورهای
جهان، از
نقطه نظر
اقتصادی و
تکنولوژیکی،
تبدیل خواهد
شد و برای همه
کشورهای
منطقه غرب
هندوستان
نمونه خواهد
بود،
همانگونه که
همیشه بوده
است. امریکا
باید بداند
که ادامه
سیاست آزردن
روح و شکستن
روحیه
ایرانیان،
نابود کردن
پایه های
منافع ملی
ایران در
منطقه و دشمن
نمایی یا
دوست دشمنان
ما شدن، در
طبیعت و
ساختار
مشارکتها و
اتحادهای
بین المللی
آینده ایران
تاثیربسیار
خواهد داشت.
